Renowned Algerian singer and songwriter Souad Massi will perform a concert in Cairo at Al-Manara Center on Friday 27 December as part of her new album Oumniya's launch tour.

Massi, who is very popular in Egypt, is known for her combination of North African folk with a myriad of influences, from flamenco to rock.

Based in Paris, the 47-year-old Algerian singer remains faithful to her language and Arab roots yet merges influences from other cultures and genres like Spanish flamenco, African instruments, and American folk rock.

She is famed for her soulful unique vocals, poetic lyrics and swaying rhythms ranging from simple to rich melodies.

Her first album, Raoui (2001), featured many of her best-known songs, such as Gher Enta and Matebkiche. Massi’s latest studio album was produced in 2010, titled Ô Houria.

Souad Massi has given a concert in Cairo last year accompanied by Syncope Orchestra and conducted by George Kolta

Programme:
Friday 27 December at 8pm
Al-Manara International Conference Center, New Cairo
