Ines Abdel-Dayem, Egypt's minister of culture, has announced that the ministry will begin uploading a large number of artistic activities held at its venues on YouTube.
The Culture Between Your Hands initiative aims to bring theatre performances, concerts and other cultural events to audiences amid the current shutdown of theatres, cinemas and concert halls over the coronavirus pandemic.
The free digital service will start this week, the ministry said, adding that updates about its library will be revealed soon.
The events that will be uploaded, most of which took place at the Cairo Opera House, include ballets (The Nutcracker, Zorba, Swan Lake, Carmen) as well as concerts held by the Talents Development Centre and by famous Egyptian performers including Omar Khairat.
More details on the YouTube channel’s contents will be provided within the week.
