Egypt-based Tunisian actor Dhafer L'Abidine is one of several Arab, or of Arab-origin, actors to be cast in the miniseries The Eddy, which will begin screening on Netflix 8 May.

The Eddy stars Leïla Bekhti, a French film and television actress of Algerian descent; French actor Yannick Bouanga, and Lebanese actor Vincent Heneine, among others.

Dhafer L'Abidine will appear in the role of Sami Ben Miled, in two episodes of the series.

Born in 1972, L’Abidine, who is based in Egypt, is originally from Tunisia. One of his most iconic roles was the 2015 Egyptian Ramadan TV series Taht El-Saytara (Under Control) alongside Nelly Karim, Hany Adel, Ahmed Wafik and Jihan Fadel.

The Eddy is set in Paris and will consist of eight episodes.

According to a brief released on IMDb, The Eddy revolves around "a French club owner who deals with the everyday chaos of running a live music venue in the heart of Paris."

The crew of The Eddy includes four directors, each directing two episodes, among them Laïla Marrakchi, a Moroccan filmmaker and scriptwriter.
