Egyptian Sheikh Mustafa El-Laboudi of Damietta led the first Friday prayers of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan at Bajrakli Mosque, the oldest mosque in Belgrade, Serbia, built in 1575.

The Egyptian Ambassador to Serbia Amr Aljowaily hosted an iftar (breaking of the fast) that evening at his residence in Belgrade for members of the Egyptian community in the country.

Sheikh Mustafa Jusufspahic, the mufti of the city of Belgrade, attended the gathering.

On the recommendation of the Embassy of Egypt in Belgrade, the Egyptian Ministry of Religious Endowments positively responded to a request by the Serbian Islamic Society to resume dispatching reciters of the Holy Quran for the month of Ramadan.
