The Mexican Embassy in Egypt celebrated the 208th Mexican Independence Day in the presence of a large group of senior state officials and high-profile figures on 16 September.

The Mexican Ambassador to Egypt José Octavio Tripp hosted a big celebration at the garden of his residence in Maadi to mark the occasion.

The reception party was enlivened by the Mexican folkloric troupe Yaocuauhtli Ballet and Mariachi Garibaldi, who are in Egypt to present two concerts on 18 September at Alexandria Opera House and at Al-Gumhouriya Theatreon on 19 September.

The event was attended by the Minister of Antiquities Khaled El-Enany, world-renowned archaeologist Zahi Hawass, the founder of Soft Power Company for Art Production Mona Zaki, former Fayoum Governor Hazem Attiya, and a number of Egyptian businessmen and their Mexican counterparts.

The programme was organized by the Embassy of Mexico, in collaboration with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the Cairo Opera House.

The show by the 30 Mexican artists fused music, dance and singing that reflected Mexican cultural diversity.

During their visit to Egypt, the troupe also participated in a dance workshop with the dancers of the Egyptian dance company Forsan El-Sharq for Heritage.
