To mark Mexican Independence Day, Ambassador of Mexico to Egypt José Octavio Tripp and his wife held a lavish reception.

The reception started with the national anthems of Egypt and Mexico, followed by a brief speech delivered by the ambassador.

Among the attendees were ambassadors from other Latin American countries, including those of Guatemala, Argentina, Peru, Panama, Cuba, Chile and Ecuador.

Also attending were the Indonesian, Finnish, French, Romanian and Lithuanian ambassadors, and the US chargé d'affaires.

Egyptian representatives included the under-secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the deputy foreign minister for American affairs.

Also present were film producer and director of Cairo International Film Festival Mohamed Hefzi and PR expert and founder of Soft Production Company for promoting art Mona Zaki.

The event featured a concert by the Mexican ensemble Alma de Cuerdas (Spirit of the Strings). The group of seven musicians merge popular music with classic rhythms.

The ensemble had performed at the Cairo Opera House’s Small Hall on Monday, in a concert sponsored by the Mexican embassy in collaboration with the Egyptian culture ministry.
