Under the title ‘Flying Classroom ... Opportunities and Challenges,’ the annual German Language Teachers Day will take place online this year for the first time on 7 November.

German Teachers Day is an ideal opportunity for German language teachers to discuss the latest educational methods with teaching experts. Since the event is held online this year, it will acquire a new dimension, where the teachers will play the role of students in the virtual classroom. This should increase their experience and deepen their understanding of the online learning process.

A set of different workshops and lectures are awaiting the participants. The workshops cover how to best teach the German language, how to prepare lessons in an interesting and interactive way, and how to manage a classroom effectively.

Regional Director of the Goethe Institute in the Middle East and North Africa Susanna Höhn sent a message of appreciation and gratitude to all German language teachers, saying: "The coronavirus pandemic has put teachers in front of many great challenges. Converting the usual lessons into a digital one with all the associated technical problems required great effort. There is no doubt that given the circumstances, the ability to control pupils and motivate them requires exceptional educational and psychological skills. I thank all the German language teachers who were able to overcome all these challenges with their efforts and love for the German language."

For several years, German Language Teachers' Day covered the issue of digital transformation, including the opportunities it presents and the challenges it poses, and how teachers can prepare classrooms in an innovative and interactive way.
