Students at the Modern University for Technology and Information's (MTI) department of public relations, media and integrated marketing communications visited Al-Ahram Weekly, a newspaper published in English by Al-Ahram Organisation, on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, the students were lectured by Al-Ahram Weekly journalist and Deputy Managing Editor Nader Habib about the processes of publishing news, how media institutions deal with public relations companies and their employees, and the importance of information, culture, training, and the development of skills for employees in the field of public relations.
During the visit, the students seized the opportunity to tour a number of sections in the newspaper under the supervision of Hala El-Talhati, head of the integrated marketing communications department; Maye Mahmoud, a professor in the department; and writer Sherif Aref, who is in charge of practical writing training.
Hassan El-Senousi, head of the public relations department in Al-Ahram, informed the students about the history of the organisation and how Al-Ahram started by publishing advertisements, then political news; and the role of its public relations department in organising visits, conferences, and events.
Professor El-Sayed Bahnassi, vice dean of the faculty of media at MTI, emphasised the importance of visits like this in strengthening the students' practical experience.
The students concluded their tour by visiting Al-Ahram Museum and the office of the Takla brothers, founders of Al-Ahram, as well as the office and memorabilia of the esteemed late journalist Mohamed Hassanein Heikal.
At the end of the visit, Ezzat Ibrahim, editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Weekly, received the delegation in his office, where El-Talhati expressed her thanks to him by granting him the faculty’s shield on behalf of Samy El-Sherif, dean of the faculty.
The students were also thankful for the great benefit they have derived from the experience.
