Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan is coming to Egypt later this month where he will be honoured at the Luxor Film Festival, Ann Haokip, second secretary and acting director of Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture, confirmed to Ahram Online.
According to Haokip, Bachchan will be accompanied by his wife Jaya Bhaduri and daughter Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
Bachchan last visited Egypt in 2015, when he was honoured during the third edition of the India by the Nile Festival.
Born in 1949, Bachchan catapulted to fame when he was cast in the leading role in the Hindi action-thriller Zanjir (1973). He has appeared in over 100 films over his four-decade-long career, garnering numerous awards and international recognition.
Bachchan is well-known among Egyptians, with his last visit to the country creating a major stir in the media and among many of his fans.
The 6th edition of Luxor Film Festival will take place between 16 and 22 March, with Bachchan's visit planned for the festival's final days.
