Two months after the launch of Stay at Home: Culture Between Your Hands initiative, the Egyptian culture ministry stated it received 25 million visitors in two months on its YouTube channel.
The viewers come from 28 countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the UAE, the US, Canada, Iraq, Germany, England, Morocco and Jordan.
The ministry's press release added that 1.6 million viewers interacted with the posted videos.
Compared to the
numbers released during the first week of April, there is an over 100 percent increase in the viewership of the ministry's channel.
In April, just 10 days after the launch of its online initiative on YouTube, Egypt's Ministry of Culture reported that its videos had garnered 11.5 million views from 25 countries.
At the time, 52.5 percent of the viewers were men and 47.5 women, with the largest segment of viewers being 18-34 years old, representing 59 percent of the visitors.
The Culture Between Your Hands initiative aims to bring theatre performances, concerts and other cultural events to audiences amid the current shutdown of theatres, cinemas and concert halls over the coronavirus pandemic.
