The digital platform DX-Media launched its second programme, titled D-Tabkha, on YouTube on Wednesday 21 October, showcasing a koshari platter, a unique Egyptian dish.

"Koshari found its way to Egypt in the 19th century and is considered a variation of a dish from the Indian subcontinent which is called kitchri, which is also made with rice and lentils," the episode introduced the viewers to the history of the dish.

"Koshari has many variations and is known in Cairo as a vegan dish. In Alexandria they make it with yellow lentils instead of brown, add liver or beef, and a different spice blend than the one used in Cairo," the video continues before moving into the recipe of koshari.

D-Tabkha will air on a weekly basis, presenting the best known Egyptian culinary delights and their stories through short video episodes.

The following episodes of D-Tabkha feature more well-known Egyptian dishes, including fattahawawshiUmm Ali, alongside many other culinary specialties of the Egyptian streets and people.

D-Tabkha is the second programme launched by the DX-Media digital platform. The platform launched its first program, D-Nostalgia, in April this year. The D-Nostalgia episodes present the events and customs engrained in the collective memories of Egyptians, including fawazir (Riddles) aired during the month of Ramadan, Ramadan TV ads, football, among others.
