On Thursday 21 July, the coalition of the fine arts sector will be holding a protest to demand the resignation of its current head, Ashraf Reda

The coalition of the fine arts sector will be protesting tomorrow at 1pm in front of the Ministry of Culture building to demand the resignation of Ashraf Reda, the head of the fine arts sector.

Sahar Eissa, a member of the coalition, said that the protest demands the cleansing of the fine arts sector of its corrupt leaders. Eissa added that Ashraf Reda was a member of the Policies Committee of the now defunct NDP (National Democratic Party).

Reda, who has stumbled through a number of conflicts since being appointed head of the fine arts sector, removed Ahmed Bassiouny’s name from this year's Venice Biennale catalogue. Bassiouny, whose work was exhibited at the event, was killed by police during protests on 28 January.
