Emerging visual artists in Damietta are expecting an intensive wave of educational workshops organised by Mahatat for Contemporary Art and Egyptian artist Dahlia Refaat, scheduled to take place during the last three wekends in August.

In order to expand and spread art in Egypt, Mahatat for Contemporary Art is organising a series of lectures as part of their 'Face to Face' initiative.

'Face to Face' is a project that is dedicated to artists from Damietta. The artists are encouraged to meet and share their experiences and experiment with performances in public space.

According to Mahatat's official website, the initiative "revolves around the idea of being offline in order to be conscious of our immediate surroundings and environment as well as being visible to others within this environment, noticing the other in order to become inspired."

There will be seven sessions held in Damietta for visual artists and interested candidates. The first three lectures will introduce the history of Modern and Contemporary Art and followed by a lecture on abstract art. Another lecture will present the basics of forming an artistic piece and the last two sessions will present the essence of digital art.

Two workshops will be dedicated to learning how to write a CV.

Mahatat is a multi-cultural initiative that takes art to public spaces. They promote change by bringing their theatrical acts and performances to the streets. The initiative aims to create a series of interactive performances on different issues to encourage participants to engage in discussions about the presented topics.
