Egyptian Catholic Centre Cinema Festival reveals lineup, jury

The 63rd Egyptian Catholic Centre Cinema Festival, scheduled to take place 27 February to 6 March, reveals part of its lineup and jury, peopled with important figures in Egyptian cinema

The upcoming edition of the Egyptian Catholic Centre Cinema Festival will include five films released commercially in its official competition.

The films are Mohamed Khan's Factory Girl, Hala Lotfy's Coming Forth by Day (Al-Khoroug Lel-Nahar), Ahmad Abdalla's Decor, Amr Salama's Made in Egypt and the same director's earlier film Excuse My French.

The festival's jury will be headed by veteran director Mohamed Abdel Aziz and members will include musician Tamer Karawan, actresses Sherine and Rania Farid Shawki, actor Bassem Samra, scriptwriter Bashir El-Deek, cinematographer Tarek El-Telmissany, film critic Tarek El-Shenawy, and writer Amal Othman.

The oldest film festival in Egypt, the Egyptian Catholic Centre Cinema Festival was first launched in 1952 and aims to support filmmaking that intersects with human and moral values.

Held annually at the Cairo Catholic Centre's premises, the festival is traditionally well attended by renowned figures in Egyptian cinema.
