Produced in 2011, Living Skin sheds light on the lives of children working in the Cairo's leather tanning industry.

Through personal stories of love and play, the documentary reveals the grim reality of work in the tanneries, where working children are exposed to hazardous chemicals that are harmful to both humans and the environment.

This is the last film in AFAC's Film Week, which took place at Cairo's Zawya between 15 and 22 April, and -- with the exception of a short experimental film by Mohamed Shawky Hassan -- the only documentary from Egypt to be screened in the programme.

The film will be screened at Zawya on at 6.30pm on Wednesday 22 April.

Living Skin received the Best First Work Award at the Tetouan International Meditteranean Film Festival in 2011, and the Jury Special Mention Award at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in the same year.

The film was also an official selection for the HotDocs International Documentary Film Festival, and the DOK.fest International Munich Documentary Film festival.

Saleh previously directed Mocha in 2006, and his narrative feature Poisonous Roses in currently in post-production.

The director will be attending the screening for a discussion after the film.
