Carrying the same name as his recently deceased grandfather, Omar Sharif Jr has posted a poem read by actor Omar Sharif in support of the Hull City AFC (The Tigers).

Tyger Tyger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies....

The poem The Tyger by English poet William Blake (1757 – 1827) is read by Sharif Sr to the images of Hull City AFC playing in the FA Cup. Another video on YouTube shows the actor reading in the recording studio (check below).

According to sources, the Egyptian actor's affair with The Tigers began when he was introduced to the club by English actor Sir Tom Courtenay, when in the 1960s the two shared an apartment in London.

Many years later, in 2014, Sharif was invited to a match by fellow Egyptian and The Tigers owner Assem Allam.

This experience resulted in the recording of Blake's The Tyger and is rare footage of the actor reciting poetry.

Born in 1983, and based in Canada, Omar Sharif Jr is the grandson of the famed actor of the same name, and renowned actress Faten Hamama.

Omar Sharif passed away in Cairo on 10 July at the age of 83.
