The 4th edition of Luxor Egyptian and European Film Festival that opens on 30 January will commemorate Helmy Halim and Elias Moadab, two Egyptian filmmakers who belong to the golden age of Egyptian cinema.
Halim (1916–1971) was a film director, screenwriter and film producer who worked with many stars including Omar Sharif, Ahmed Ramzy, Faten Hamama and Abdel Halim Hafez. Moadab (1916 –1952) was an actor who took part in many of Egypt’s comedy movies of the 1940s and 1950s.
Italy was chosen to be the honourary guest of the 4th edition of the festival that will host many Egyptian stars including Yosra who will be present at the closing ceremony.
The stars list also includes Lobna Abdel Aziz, who was chosen to be the honourary president of the festival, and Poussy who will be honoured for her lifetime achievements.
Mahmuod Hemida, Dalia Elbehiry, Salwa Khattab, Naglaa Badr, Nada Basiouny and Kuwaiti director Amer Al Zohiri will also be honoured for their works.
The 4th edition of Luxor Egyptian and European Film Festival will open with the Palestinian film 3000 Nights by Mai Masri, with the screening to be held at the Luxor Culture Centre.
This year's festival is headed by Magda Moris and will run from 30 January to 5 February.
