The film, Sharea El Haram (El Haram Street), has made unprecedented profits this Ramdan Eid holiday. It takes the Egyptian film record for the largest profit in one single day: LE 2.1 million.
It took four days for all of the films of the 2011 Eid holiday to make LE 15 million.
The Egyptian producer, El Sobky, stated to CNN Arabic that many cinema complexes witnessed an upsurge after an apparent downfall in profits since the January 25 Revolution.
He then added that many doubted whether the film would be successful because Egyptian's general sentiments have changed in the past months, to which disagreed and won big.
