Room Art Space will screen Good Night Sarajevo in the presence of its director on Wednesday, 1 June.

Good Night Sarajevo is a Spanish-Bosnian documentary produced and directed by Edu Marin and Olivier Algora.

The film explores the public and private memories of Bosnian journalist Boban Minic, the voice of Radio Sarajevo in the early 1990s.

While his city was being besieged during the Bosnian War in 1992, he decided to present his programme every night to give his listeners a respite from the war’s brutality.

After being exiled in Spain, the film documents Minic’s first return to Sarajevo since the end of the war in 1995 to recount the story of his fight when the only weapons he had were his words and the radio.

The film was screened at Cairo’s 8th panorama of the European Film Festival in the Balkan Focus section.

It won two top awards from festivals in Spain and Argentina, and was selected in over 20 international festivals in 2015, including the Al-Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival in Qatar.

The film's director will be present for a Q&A with the audience after the screening.
