The 2014 Hungarian drama film White God will be screened at Cairo's Magnolia - Leaves of Art on Monday 11 July.

Directed by Hungarian actor and filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó, the film centers on young Lili who when ordered to give up her cherished dog Hagen, “because it's mixed-breed heritage is deemed 'unfit' by The State, she and the dog begin a dangerous journey back towards each other,” reads the film synopsis on the event’s Facebook page.

“At the same time, all the unwanted, unloved and so-called 'unfit' dogs rise up under a new leader, Hagen, the one-time house pet who has learned all too well from his 'masters' in his journey through the streets and animal control centers how to bite the hands that beats him,” it adds.

White God has garnered a number of important awards, including Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard Award in 2014.
