Zamalek’s Magnolia Leaves of Art will screen the award winning Icelandic film Rams (Hrùtar) on 18 July.

Winner of the Un Certain Regard prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival, the film is coproduced by Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Poland.

Directed by Grímur Hákonarson, the drama follows two brothers and Icelandic sheep farmers who haven’t spoken in four decades. Things change when both their flocks face disaster and they are forced to cooperate.

The film won Best Narrative Feature at the Hampton's Film Festival, and was also screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, and won the audience award at the Iranian Fajr Film Festival, as well as at Tromsø International Film Festival.

Magnolia Leaves of Art is a library and art space that screens films twice a week and regularly holds music performances.

Programme:
