Cinema El-Fourn at Cairo's Darb 1718 will screen the German documentary Almanya: Willkommen in Deutschland (Almanya: Welcome to Germany) on Sunday 9 October as part of its German film night programme.
Directed by Yasemin Şamdereli, the film is centred on “the story of three generations of a Turkish immigrant family,” according to film website IMDB.
Produced in 2011, the film was screened in numerous festivals and garnered a total of 10 awards, including Best Narrative Feature at the 2011 Chicago International Film Festival and Best Screenplay and Outstanding Feature Film Awards at the 2011 German Film Awards.
The film stars Vedat Erincin, Fahri Yardim and Lilay Huser.
English subtitles will be available.
