Marianne Khoury, co-manager of Misr International Films and president of the Panorama of European Film, will be among the jury of the Robert Bosch Stiftung's Film Prize of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival, scheduled to take place this month.
The first edition of the Film Prize for German-Arab projects was launched in 2013.
Offering a yearlong training programme, it primarily aims to support emerging young talents in the film business from Germany and the Arab world, provide expert knowledge in the development of their projects and open a door to the international film market.
The teams should have a balanced mix of German and Arab filmmakers, fostering the idea of intercultural exchange.
The productions of Film Prize recipients take place in both partner countries, allowing the team members to reflect their own working styles.
The Robert Bosch Stiftung Prize is comprises three production grants worth up to 60,000 Euros.
The 2017 nominees include three short animation projects, four documentaries and four short fiction projects.
The three 2017 Film Prize winners will be announced on 12 February during Berlinale Talents, a summit and networking platform of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival.
Apart form Khoury, the jury panel includes Vincenzo Bugno, project manager of the World Cinema Fund and a Berlinale delegate; George David, general manager of the Royal Film Commission - Jordan (RFC); Doris Hepp, commissioning editor of ZDF/Arte; Dr. Elke Kaschl Mohni, regional director of the Goethe-Institute for the MENA Region; Hania Mroué, founder and director of the Metropolis Art Cinema in Beirut; and producer Alexander Wadouh (Chromosome Film).
