Since 2011 has been a bad year for producers, they are putting their hopes on the next school vacation season despite fears of political instability

A Whole One

Many producers have announced the release of new films in the mid-year holiday despite fears of the outbreak of protests on the next 25 January:

Abdel Geleil Hassan, the media representative of Al Arabia Cinema production house, announced the company will be releasing Helm Aziz (The dream of Aziz), starring Ahmed Ezz, stressing that the film is not about the incarcerated businessman Ahmed Ezz. Abdel Geleil said releasing films in the mid-year holiday with viewers in the 14-20 age bracket in mind is, rather than a risk as such, a way of standing by the people working in the film industry in difficult times, as there are thousands of cinema-related employees in need of work.

The Sobky Production house will be releasing Wahed Sahih (A Whole One), which stars Hany Salama, Basma, Rania Youssef and Kinda Aloush. The film was screened last month at the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF). Some films that were supposed to be relased in 2011 but were postponed will also be released next January, including Omar and Salma III as well as Gedo Habiby (My Dear Grandfather), which was postponed four times. Other postponed films to be released include Partita by Sherif Mandour and Banat El Am (Female Cousins) by Ahmed Samir Farag.
