A collection of short films by renowned director Youssef Chahine will be screened at Zawya cinema on 28 October.

The films range from documentary to fiction: The Sacred Oil (docu-fiction, 1967), Salwa the Girl who Talked to Cows (fiction, 1970), Cairo…As told by Chahine (documentary, 1991), Its Only One Step (fiction, 1998), After 47 Years (fiction, 2007), and 11’09’01 (fiction, 2002).

A discussion will follow the screening with scriptwriter and researcher Mohamed Al-Masry. The discussion will look into the context of the films’ production and display, and how they fit in with Chahine’s vision and his feature films.
