The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) announced Macedonian film God Exists, Her Name is Petrunya is the winner of the Arab Critics’ Awards for European Films.
The film, directed by Teona Strugar Mitevska, claimed on Saturday the award of the new section launched by the Arab Cinema Centre (ACC) in partnership with European Film Promotion (EFP).
EFP is an international network of film promotion institutes from 37 European countries, each representing their national films and talents abroad "to jointly promote the diversity and spirit of European cinema and talent at key film festivals and markets."
Organised by MAD Solutions, the ACC, running for the fifth year, is an international promotional platform for Arab cinema.
The current edition of the CIFF, named after its late artistic director Youssef Sherif Rizkallah, is running until 29 November with a number of activities being held, including the screening of 153 films from 63 countries.
