Theatres in Saudi Arabia and some Gulf countries started screening on Thursday 'The Knight and the Princess', the Arab world’s first ever animation film, produced by Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Written and directed by the experienced Bashir El-Deek, with illustrations done by iconic cartoonist Mustafa Hussein, the film has participated in many regional and international film festivals including the third edition of the Gouna Film Festival last summer.

Producer Abbas ibn El-Abbass has said that it took the filmmakers around 20 years to finish the movie, and “despite all challenges they were determined to make the dream come true.”

'The Knight and the Princess' is an adventure set in the 7th century. The voice actors include stars Mohamed Henedy, Samir Ghanem, Medhat Saleh, Donia Samir Ghanem, Maged El-Kedwany, Addel-Rahman Abou-Zahrah and Abla Kamel, as well as the late Said Saleh and Amina Rezk.
