The prizes of the El-Sakia Mobile Film Festival 2020, which took place between 9 and 11 May on El-Sakia’s YouTube channel, were announced on Monday.
In its first edition, the festival accepted entries of both feature films and documentaries produced in 2020 and with a duration of between 2 and 5 minutes.
The motto of this year's festival and competition was "Stay at Home," aiming to encourage people to stay at home and transform it into a creative space.
The jury of the competition included actors Hamza El-Eily and Rosaline Elbay, producer Mohamed Hefzy and filmmaker Khairy Beshara.
Commenting on the films, Khairy Beshara shared that the jury panel was happy with all the films that participated in the festival, including those which did not win any awards.
"All of you, those who won prizes and those who did not win, expressed yourselves with honesty," Beshara said in a video posted by El-Sakia where he addresses the young filmmakers.
He added that he hopes that in the coming year the films submitted will carry less of the negative emotions and will be characterised by more positivity towards life.
