The award-winning documentary, 'Waste Land', featuring the lives of garbage collectors across Brazil, will be screened on Wednesday, 27 June, at the Townhouse Gallery.

The film sheds light on recyclable materials collectors in Brazil (Catadores), in which director Lucy Walker ('Devil's Playground', 'Blindsight' and 'Countdown to Zero') and co-directors João Jardim and Karen Harley, follow the artist Vik Muniz as he makes an art project about the Catadores.

In 2010, 'Waste Land' won the audience award at both the Berlinale and the Sundance Film Festival, and it has also won a Human Rights Film Award by Amnesty International at the Berlinale of that same year.

The screening will start at 7pm at Townhouse Library located in Hussein Meemar Pasha Street, Downtown, Cairo.
