Le Repenti by Merzak Allouache
The Morrocan film Death For Sale by Faouzi Bensaidi and the Algerian film Le Repenti by Merzak Allouche will be competing in the 12th Osian's Cinefan festival for Asian and Arab Film.
Death For Sale, which revolves around three young men who decide to rob a jewellery store will be competing in the Asian and Arab Film Section along with the Merzak Allouache's Le Repenti.
Le Repenti was screened in the Director's Fortnight section this year at the Cannes Film Festival.
Morrcoan film The Miscreants by Mochine Besri will also be screened in the First Features Section. The film depicts the conflict between artists and Islamic fundamentalists, following five artists who are kidnapped by a group of Islamic fundamentalists.
A short Palestinian/Qatari and Jordanian production titled Haneen will also be competing in the festival's short film section.
According to the official press release, the festival will present 15 World premieres, 8 International premieres, 104 Indian premieres and 13 Asian premieres from China, Estonia, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Japan, Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Morocco and Algeria among other Asian and Arab countries.
