Prominent Egyptian actor Ahmed Ramzy died on Friday after falling at his house at a resort on Egypt’s north coast.

Ramzy, who passed away at the age of 82, made his last film appearance in 2002 when he featured in 'El-Warda El-Hamra' (Red Rose). He ended a 20-year absence when he took part in a low-key film in 1999.

He was one of Egypt’s most prominent actors in the 1950s, 60s and early 70s. Ramzy made his acting film debut in 1955 in the famous film 'Ayamna El-Helwa' (Our Happy Days) which also featured Omar El-Sharif and late singer Abdel-Halim Hafez.

Ramzy was known for his womanizing and funny playboy roles. His last acting appearance came in 2007 when he featured in a television series called 'Hanan WaHanin' (Hanan and Hanin) along with El-Sharif, his best friend.

His most famous movies are Sira’ Al-Mina (Dark Waters) in 1956 and Thartharah fawqa al-Nil (Adrift on the Nile) in 1971, which he described as his favourite film.

Ramzy also starred in several comedy movies, including two famous ones with Ismail Yassine in the late 1950s. He took part in a dozen of films with legendary actresses Soad Hosny and Faten Hamama.

RAMZI ...FOREVER! Take 02
AHMAD RAMZI-take 02/...in an Italian 1961 film SON OF SPARTACUS?But what was sad really that no Egyptian film Director knew how to dig in and reveal the hidden talents of RAMZI/ Even though he played many many great Leading roles in more than 60 films or so...but his character was a sort of a Cliche, as,the guy who tries to snatch the Female hero from her husband or boyfriend..as smooth operator, and some other times violently..I attended and saw over 40 films he was in to come to this humble verdict of mine, a personal opinion, millions of his admirers never met him personally but LOVED HIM,,Immensely, i have in my possession a rare photo on board of Italian cruise ship AUSONIA as my female cousin and her husband met him in 1960/61? on his way to ROME!I cherish that Original copy..with HIS infamous sensual GRIN on his handsome face/If there was an Arab OSCAR ,HE deserved it for his role in SAWT MEEN AL MAa-DI orGOD BLESS BLAST FROM THE PAST..GOD BLESS HIS SWEET SOUL & MEMORY
