Pippi Longstocking continues to bring the joy of reading to children around the world. The event scheduled on 19 December will celebrate one of the best known books for children by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren.

The story of this unconventional girl has been even turned to number of films, including animated movies and has equally inspired many artists to base their performances on the cheerful and magical protagonist and her adventures.

Celebrating 70th anniversary of the book's publishing, the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo is organising a whole day event of interactive activities.

The day will include story telling, performances by Safarni, a project aiming at bringing a taste of other cultures to the Egyptian children and Awtar Quartet, an ensemble which is renowned for fusing classical music with storytelling.
