Art Alert: Album collects sounds of Alexandrian bands

An album-signing event at the Goethe Institut Alexandria for Mazzika Men Hena (Music From Here) will take place, a mixtape project featuring independent bands in Alexandria

On 24 January the Goethe Institut will host an album-signing event for the album titled Mazzika Men Hena (Music from Here), with the presence of the bands and musicians.

Music From Here brings 15 bands from Alexandria together in an album that aims to capture and document the different musical sounds being produced in the city.

The artists and bands in the album are Karabeeb, Telepoetic, Disorder, MaQuam, Portrait Avenue, High Dam, Ahmad Saed, Ajam, Almena, Shaware3na, Wasla, Soot Fel Zahma, Wasla, Khaled Kaddal, Nour Project and Zaman.

The project was initiated by Goethe Institut’s branch in Alexandria that held a series of music workshops in 2014 and 2015 that brought together 50 musicians from Egypt and others from Germany.
