Art Alert: Nile Project brings Africa's musicians to Egypt's 4 cities

The performances will take place in Cairo, Aswan, Alexandria and Sharm El-Sheikh

After touring in the USA and United Arab Emirates, the Nile Project, which is in its fourth edition, will hold performances in Cairo, Aswan, Alexandria and Sharm El-Sheikh, featuring musicians from eight African countries.
The eight countries that have artist participating in the performances are Burundi, Egypt, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
 
The Nile Project started in 2013 as a collective that has since grown to include 34 artists from 11 countries that share the River Nile. The project aims to bring these musicians together to develop their sound through workshops and musical tours.
 
Danny Mekonnen was invited by Mina Girgis, the Nile Project's producer and CEO, to be this years musical director.
 
The Nile Project’s concert in Aswan will feature Swiss singer Bastian Baker.
 
The musicians participating this year are Adel Mekha (Egypt, Nubia/ Vocals, Percussion), Ahmed Omar (Eritrea, Egypt/Bass, Tanbour), Asia Madani (Sudan/Vocals, Percussion), Claude Ciza (Burundi/Percussion, Ikembe, Vocals), Dawit Seyoum (Ethiopia/Krar, Bass Krar), Endalekachew Nigusie (Ethiopia/Masenko), Kasiva Mutua (Kenya/Percussion, Vocals), Mohamed Kamal (Egypt/Guitar), Msafiri Zawose (Tanzania/Limba, Zeze, Filimbi, Percussion, Vocals), Nader El Shaer (Egypt/Kawala, Keytar, Farfisa, Vocals), Rapasa Nyatrapasa (Kenya/Ongeng’o, Nyangile/Sanduk, Nyatiti, Adungu, Obokano, Vocals), Roza Kifle (Ethiopia/Vocals) and Saleeb Lowza (Egypt/Vocals).

10 February, 6 pm at Fawzy Fawzy Youssef Open Air Theater, Aswan
11 February, 8pm Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria
18 February, 7pm Royal Club Mohamed Aly, 2,8 km south of Mounib Sq. Upper Egypt highway, Giza
20 February, (time to be announced) African Investment Forum, Sharm El Sheikh
