Met Opera HD transmission of La Fanciulla del West

On 8 January the Small Hall of the Cairo Opera House will present the Metropolitan Opera HD transmission of Puccini's La Fanciulla del West

"La Fanciulla del West is Puccini’s wild west opera starring all-American diva Deborah Voigt and Marcello Giordani, and is conducted by Nicola Luisotti. The performances mark the 100th anniversary of the opera’s world premiere at the Met." - Met Opera

The Metropolitan opera was founded by a few New York millionaires back in 1880 and ever since its creation it has proved to be among the world's most ambitious opera venues, attracting the best performers and presenting the finest repertoire to its audience.

Metropolitan opera launched high definition transmissions of their operas in December 2006. The practice became very popular, gaining a total of almost one million attendees worldwide in its second season. In October 2010, Egypt joined the international network of Met Opera live transmissions and was received with great appreciation amongst Egyptian audiences.

The transmission on 8 January will begin at 8 pm at the Cairo Opera House Small hall and approximate running time is 3 hrs 10 min
