A night of traditional Arab music will take place at Room Art Space and Cafe on Thursday, featuring Mohammed Antar on ney, Youssef El Ashy on oud, and Sophy Frankfurd on violin.
The listeners are invited to explore the rich heritage of oriental music through the wasla, a Baroque suite-like musical form developing the maqam through a number of compositions and improvisations that are put together in a certain order.
"The Art of Maqam" is one of Mohammed Antar's musical projects, in which he presents a number of his traditional Arabic style compositions in wasla form.
Thursday 4 April, 9pm
Room Art Space & Cafe, 10 Etehaad El-Mohamin St., Garden City, Cairo.
