The 28th Citadel Festival for Music and Singing will take place between 18 August and 1 September, introducing a selection of Egyptian, Arab, and international musicians to Cairo’s audience at the historical venue.
Three concerts will be hosted each night at Mahka Theatres of Salah Al-Din Citadel in Cairo.
The annual summer event, launched in 1989, is under the directorship of the Cairo Opera and will bring local and regional music to the historic location, inviting diverse audiences to attend the open air events.
"Ten artists will be honored during the festival," stated the Cairo Opera House President Magdi Saber.
"The honored are singers Ali El-Haggar, Mohamed El-Helw and Nadia Mostafa, violinist Yasser El-Serafy, Arab Music Festival manager Jihan Morsi, ballerina Sahar Hemi, Artistic House manager Magdi Boghdady in addition to Mahmoud Af-Fifi, a co-founder of the festival, and Abdel-Hakim Taqey an executive manager of the Cairo Ballet group," Saber added.
Cairo Steps, Massar Egbari, Nesma Abdel Aziz, Mohamed Mohsen, Ali El-Haggar, Hani Shaker, Medhat Saleh, Ghalia Ben Ali, Dina El-Wedidi and Omar Khairat are among the highlights of singers and bands performing at the festivals in addition to performances from Algeria, China, Namibian and Venezuela.
