Egyptian musicians Maurice Louca and Ahmed Harfoush will take the stage of the EFG London Jazz Festival on 15 and 22 November respectively.
Together with his Elephantine band, Louca will perform songs from his third album, Elephantine, while the Harfoush Jazz Band will present ‘The Egyptian Jazz Projekt,’ performing the greatest songs from Egypt's 1950s and 1960s in jazz remake.
Born in Cairo, Louca is an Egyptian musician and composer considered among the most successful experimental musicians of his generation.
The Egyptian Jazz Projekt launched by Harfoush aims to revive many iconic songs from Egypt's musical history, including compositions of Abdel Halim Hafez, Mohammed Abdel Wahab, Fareed Al-Atrash, Saad Abdel Wahab and Shadia, while giving them a swing and jazz colour.
Held annually for 25 years, the EFG London Jazz Festival emerged as the Camden Jazz Week and in 1992 changed its name to the London Jazz Festival
This year the festival will be held between 15 and 24 November.
