Abu, a well-known Egyptian singer and songwriter, released the song Alam Maganeen (“Crazy People”) on his official YouTube channel on 3 February.

The song is part of the promotional material accompanying the release of the film Ras El-Sana (“New Year's Eve”) which began playing in cinemas on Wednesday.

The song and the lyrics are penned by Abu with music arrangement by Hany Rabie.

Alam Maganeen features well-known names from Egyptian cinema who are in the film -- Eyad Nassar, Ahmed Malek, Basma, Shereen Reda, Ingy El-Mokadem, Huda El-Mufti, and Ali Kassem -- alongside scenes from the movie.

The debut feature of director Mohamed Ahmed Sakr, Ras El-Sana is produced by Film Clinic headed by Mohamed Hefzy, in cooperation with Lagoonie Film Production.

According to Ras El-Sana's synopsis, "the film takes place over the course of one night in a coastal resort town where the crème de la crème celebrate the New Year in 2009. As the celebrations are underway, relationships grow more complex, and secrets are uncovered, changing the way they see themselves and those around them forever."

Ras El-Sana saw its world premiere at the 18th Marrakech International Film Festival in December last year.
