Egyptian band Massar Egbari will give a live concert on Monday 14 June as part of season two of WE Online Music Festival.
The concert, which will be aired through WE Telecom's YouTube channel, was originally scheduled for 5 June before the festival announced it was extending the programme until the end of summer.
One of the first Egyptian independent bands to live-stream concerts during quarantine in March, Massar Egbari, founded in 2005, is one of the leading independent bands in the country with their line-up of musicians; Hani El-Dakkak (guitar and lead vocal), Ahmed Hafez (bass guitar), Tamer Attallah (drums), Ayman Massoud (keyboards), and Mahmoud Siam (guitar).
Two months ago, they released Raghm El-Masafa (“Despite the Distance”), a song about social distancing that made part of an advertisement campaign, seeing each band member performing in a separate studio.
As part of the second season's concerts to be held each Friday, many known Arab bands will be featured including Aziz Maraka, Jadal, Akher Zapheer and El Morabba3.
In cooperation with CNL Music, the WE Online Music Festival launched to ease the lockdown for audiences, starting with Wust El-Balad in the opening of the festival on 3 May.
Many well-known bands and singers have been featured, including Egyptian Project, Dina El-Wedidi, Aida El-Ayoubi, HOH band, Marwan Moussa, Wegaz, and Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir.
The concerts are held online due to coronavirus restrictions including the shutdown of all public cultural and entertainment venues in the country.
