The all brass band El Nafikha will give a concert at Cairo Opera's Nafoura theatre on Sunday 19 July.
A unique flavour on Egypt’s music scene, since their first concert in October 2014, El Nafikha (The Blowers) have generated interest, appreciation and a high demand.
El Nafikha offers their own unique vision of how to bring brass back into the mainstream. Well-known Arabic melodies and songs arranged for the brass quintet become an excuse for the band to gain the listeners’ hearts and incite in them a warm relationship with the instruments. The theatrical element that comes with the concerts makes the experience even more enjoyable.
In the first years of their activities, the band performed across numerous venues, before decreasing their appearances.
As such their upcoming concert at the Cairo Opera's open-air theatre is an event worth looking into.
The band was established by trumpeter Mohamed Sawwah, who is joined by musicians performing on trombones and tuba, orienal percussionist and a drummer.
The band has an active YouTube channel where the audience can watch samples from their concerts.
