Headed by Jehan Morsi, the Oriental Music Department of the Cairo Opera House announced that it would hold auditions for singers and instrumentalists aiming to join its companies presenting Arabic music.
The applicants aged between 18 and 30 years are required to contact directly the central administration office at the Oriental Music Department, no later than 15 November.
The singers are required to prepare one song from the Arabic music heritage and one from the Arabic music modern repertoire.
The instrumentalists must have an ability to read notes and are required to prepare an Arabic music piece.
The chosen candidates will be auditioned in front of the opera artists specialised in Arabic music.
The Cairo Opera House is home to a large number of companies including those specialised in performing the Arab music repertoire: the Religious Song Ensemble, the Abdel Halim Nowera Ensemble for Arab Music, the National Arab Music Ensemble, Arab National Music Company, in addition to the Alexandria Opera Company for Arab Music and Singing.
