The next Paintbeat session - yes, you got it: Paintbeat combines painting and drumming - will be held on Thursday, 14 June.

The event is a collaboration between the "culture apartment" 10 Mahmoud Bassiouny and Bongoz Drum Circle.

Bongoz have been hosting their drum circles in several places in Cairo. The idea is simple: the drum circle is not about the performance but the experience. Participants do not need to be percussionists, but rather individuals looking to enjoy a night of playing music with strangers and meeting new people.

10 Mahmoud Bassiouny is a space for art, with a mandate to use the apartment for artists to meet, collaborate and engage members of society in the cultural movement. The space does not showcase finished work and aims to offer an alternative to Cairo's art scene.

Both groups suggest participants come with an open mind and wearing clothes they don't mind covering in paint.

Programme:
Thursday 14 June at 8:00pm
10 Mahmoud Bassiouny, 5th Floor, Downtown, Cairo
