Egyptian singer Aly El-Haggar and some of his close friends launch a radio station on YouTube called Fagr Belady 2032. Besides music, they broadcast local news, reporting on Egypt with a plan to look to the future; to 2032.
According to Al-Ahram Arabic-language news site, the channel is named after El-Haggar's latest release: Fagr Belady (The Dawn of My Country), which the artist found suitable for a new Internet radio channel in Egypt after the 2011 revolution.
The aim of the channel, and, specifically the news programme, as El-Haggar explained to Al-Ahram gate: "is to give a clear vision for the future, whether Egypt will be one of the great powers or remain as is. Here we must help educate the masses and help them wake up."
Funded entirely by El-Haggar and his friends, "The channel began its testing period, broadcasting for a couple of hours each day and soon it will be on live all day," El-Haggar told Al-Ahram news portal.
The channel will feature some music shows, news programmes presented by El-Haggar himself, in addition to some entertainment talk shows and radio series.
Among its various programmes is Hekayti Ma Oghnia (My Story with a Song), which will interview artists like Medhat Saleh, Amr Diab and others. El-Haggar stresses that the channel will never be about him, but on musicians and singers in Egypt "especially those with appreciable talent, intellect and education... and not those new faces we hear about today," El-Haggar concludes.
