As part of the Norwegian Red Zone Festival, hosted within the context of Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy's Spring Festival, a theatrical double bill is set to take place on Thursday 8 May in the Falaki Theatre.

The night will feature two performances: Capharnaüm by Latefa Ahrrare (Morocco) and Points of Pain by Kate Pendr (Norway).

Capharnaüm features a one-woman show by Moroccan actress Ahrrare in which she employs multiple visual language forms to address taboos in conservative Arab societies, such as nudity, the representation of the human body in art and the position of women in society.

The play has been presented in a number of international festivals since its premiere in Morocco.

Points of Pain, on the other hand, is inspired from Kate Pendr's journey to Iran where she met several artists and learned about the situation with the censorship authorities there. In this performance, she demonstrates how Iranian censorship affects a small theatre play by challenging herself to subtly transmit a message to her audience under such circumstances.

Programme:
Thursday 8 May at 8pm in Falaki Theatre
