As part of its busy Ramadan programme, the Cultural Development Fund brings Cairene and Alexandrian audiences music and poetry on Tuesday, 7 July.
Sheikh Ihab Younis and his troupe will perform a number of muwashshahat at an inshad night at the Ibdaa Center, in Beit El-Seheimy on Cairo’s Moez Street.
The Artistic Creativity Centre will be showing Burdat El-Imam El-Boseri, Khaled Galal’s theatrical adaptation of thirteenth-century Sufi poet Imam El-Boseri’s famous Poem of the Mantle in ode to Prophet Muhammad.
Meanwhile, the Mawlay troupe will put on an inshad concert at the Freedom Centre for Creativity in Alexandria.
Currently headed by Mohamed Abou Seada, the Cultural Development Fund was created in 1989 to fund and boost the development of Egypt's culture scene.
Among its main activities, the fund oversees the restoration of important cultural locations and runs several cultural festivals in visual arts, theatre and cinema.
