Titled Circ’Us, a residency of circus and street arts will take place between 27 September and 7 October in Egypt's Delta cities.
The residency is organised by Mahatat for Contemporary Art, Vuesch Association (Germany) and Nomadways (France), who are joining forces with the French Institute in Cairo, Goethe in Cairo, and the Robert Bausch Foundation.
Over the course of a 10-day residency in Port Said, 15 participating artists from France, Germany and Egypt will collaborate to produce a show that will then tour 10 Egyptian cities between 8 and 18 October.
The residency will also comprise informative sessions as well as training by specialists in street art, social circus, acrobatics and performance arts.
In parallel to the residency and the tour that will follow it, the artists will also deliver introductory workshops in circus arts to the children and youth of Port Said and training sessions for young circus artists in Alexandria and Cairo, in addition to performing special shows for children.
