PROGRAMME: 26th Festival for Egypt's Theatre Clubs

The event aims to shed light on plays by a variety of clubs from across Egypt

The 26th 'Festival for Theatre Clubs' will open on Sunday in the presence of Culture Minister Helmy El-Namnam and head of the General Authority for Culture Palaces Ashraf Amer.

The festival will run between 10 and 22 September at El-Samer Theatre in Agouza, Cairo.

The opening will include a play titled Masrahna Nawady (Our Theatre is Clubs) directed by Mohamed El-Ashry, as well as the play Taer (Bird) directed by Omar Hassan and written by Mahmoud Gamal.

The festival will present 21 plays performed by troupes from 17 theatre clubs from cities around Egypt.

All performances are held at El-Samer Theatre in Agouza at 7pm.

Thursday 14 September
Senet from Luxor
Maqtal Ghagareya (Death of a Gypsy) from Armant

Friday 15 September
El-Ard El-Wahshy (The Beastly Performance) from Shebin El-Kom
Ana we Ehna we Kolena (Me, us, and all of us) from Ismailia

Saturday 16 September
El-Khanzeer (The Pig) by El-Gezira Theatre Club 
Bab El-Fetouh (El-Fetouh Gate) from Ghazl El-Mahalla

Sunday 17 September
7+ Ashbah Kamel Nagafa (7+ Ghosts of Kamel Nagafa) 
and Washm El-Ghayeb (The Absent’s Tattoo), both from Suez 

Monday 18 September
Qabel Lel Eshteaal (Flammable) by El-Anfoushy Theatre Club
Dakar Walad Omran (Dakkar, Omran’s Son) by El-Shatby Theatre Club

Tuesday 19 September
El-Shabihan (The Lookalikes) by Mostafa Kamel Theatre Club
Lel Khalf Dir (Make a U-Turn) from Marsa Matrouh

Wednesday 20 September
Hekayat Psychobateya (Psychopathic Stories) and
Bab El-Farag (The Door to Happiness), both by the Beni Suef Theatre Club

Thursday 21 September
Afrit El-Saada (The Happiness Genie)
Maasat El-Hallag (The Barber’s Tragedy) by Zagazig Theatre Club

Friday 22 September
Closing party and award ceremony
