At the closing of the Arab Theatre Festival in Tunisia on Tuesday, Ismail Mokhtar, head of the Artistic Theatre House, announced he would be signing a cooperation protocol with the Arab Authority for Theater within the coming two weeks in Cairo.

The next edition of the Arab Theatre Festival, which is organised by the Arab Authority for Theater, will be held in Cairo.

The protocol will lay the foundations for cooperation between the two parties with the aim of contributing to the development of theatre in the Arab world.

Writer Ismail Abdullah, the secretary-general of the Arab Authority for Theater, stressed the important role played by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and its institutions in the field of theatre and its work towards developing the art locally and regionally.

The agreement involves plans for the formation of a joint committee that will look into the proposed projects from both parties, and plan and implement their production, in addition to printing and publishing studies and written works on theatre, as well as establishing training programmes and workshops for young actors led by professionals.
