Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s 16th International Summer Festival announces lineup

The festival runs for a month, bringing daily concerts, plays, films, and dance to the city of Alexandria

The 16th edition of the annual Summer Festival of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina will run between 16 July and 18 August.

As always, the line-up for the festival features a plethora of local and international bands performing, as well as plays, dance performances, and film screenings.

The festival opens with a concert by Jordanian band Autostrad at Bibliotheca’s Open Air Theatre.

International bands include Triakel Band from Sweden, Les Compagnos from France, Oy Band from Swtizerland, Made in Bled from Morocco, and Syrian singer Faya Younan.

Egypt’s local musicians and bands performing include Cairokee, Sharmoofers, Massar Egbari, High Dam, Maryam Saleh, Zap Tharwat, Ali El Haggar, Hisham Kharma, among others.

The festival will also have a programme of activities for children and a 'family day', as well as a lecture titled “The Importance of Cinematic Acting” delivered by actor Ahmed Kamal. 

Closing Ceremony on 18 August will feature Egyptian singer Carmen Soliman, accompanied by Orchestra conducted by George Kolta.
